tell me a story

June 1, 2011

When the hubs and I were dating, we talked on the phone nearly every night before bed.  I always used to ask him to tell me a bedtime story.  He, being the sweet guy that he is, would oblige.  Now that we have the babe, bedtime stories have taken on a whole new meaning.  I can’t wait for those moments when I look into the doorway of her room and see him rocking her, telling her a story.

I was recently asked to review a new technology that allows families to stay connected via bedtime stories, no matter where they might be located.  Be There Bedtime Stories takes the idea of a recordable book one step further to include webcam recordings!  This is particularly great for military families during deployments and time spent apart for training, etc.  How it works is simple, you select a book from their collection {they have a ton – even libros en espanol}, connect your webcam, and record yourself reading the book.  Don’t worry if you mess up, you can pause at anytime, or start over.  You are then able to send your book via email to your loved ones.  As military families, it is not only Mommy or Daddy that is missed, but also grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins might be far away too.  This is a really meaningful way to send an animated bedtime story that can be enjoyed again and again.

Another cool thing about Be There Bedtime Stories is that they have partnered with Blue Star Families to help give military children free bedtime stories.  I think this is a great idea.

Would you like to win a code for a free bedtime story?  Here’s how::

  • Be a follower of this blog
  • Take a look at the Be There Bedtime Story bookstore and leave a comment telling me your favorite book and how you would use your free bedtime story.

That’s it!  I will randomly select a winner on Monday, June 6th.  Good luck!
