some kind of wonderful

October 29, 2010

Well, yesterday was the big day: our second trimester ultrasound! I had a doctor’s appointment across town from the hospital right before, so I met the hubs there. He was an hour early for the appointment because he’s adorable. I arrived 30 minutes early, and we were elated when they took us back right away and did the ultrasound EARLY!

Seeing the little body was so precious. We watched attentively as they took pictures of the head, face, arms, legs, organs, abdomen, etc. Basically, every part but THE part, if you know what I mean. Finally, about 40 minutes into the ultrasound, the tech asked if we wanted to know the sex.

“Yes!” We both replied excitedly.

“IT’S A GIRL!” She told us.

Words can’t accurately describe the feeling that overcame me: joy, excitement, pride, amazement, wonder. She is perfect and measuring right on schedule. It was really cool to see her move around and feel her at the same time. She waved her arms, kicked her legs, and moved her mouth. It looked like she was telling us something.

The hubs claimed all along that she would be a girl – I guess you could call it father’s intuition. He also said that he is going to be in charge of her wardrobe (we’ll see about that), and that she will wear only dresses! Haha – he recanted that statement after considering weather conditions. I am just excited that he is excited about shopping and dressing her! I know we will have so much fun! We are sticking with our green, brown, and off-white theme for her ‘nursery.’ We did this because we loved the set we picked out, and we would like to re-use it someday for another little one, if we could be so lucky!

So, you can bet that while the theme of most people’s weekend will be orange, black, ghosts, and ghouls, the theme of our weekend will be pink, flowers, sugar, spice, and everything nice! On that note, Happy Halloween and have a great weekend!
